Robert C Walker

Robert C. Walker was born on June 17, 1932 in Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY. He died at 86 years of age on August 10, 2018. He was the oldest of three children of John and Lou Walker. He married Barbara Schulz in 1955 at West Point, NY. Robert was an industrial arts teacher with most of his career spent at the Anne M. Dorner Middle School in Ossining, NY. During the summer free period he kept working at multiple endeavors, including camp counseling, ice cream vendor, Dugan bread delivery man and for several years organized the vendors for the Yorktown Grange Fair and Carnival. Robert sang in both the Taghkanic Chorale and the Putnam Chorale and was 50-years in the Boy Scouts and continued to volunteer and raise funds for them throughout his life. He performed with the Lakeland Players, was a member of the Putnam Valley Rotary and also drove for the American Cancer Society. Robert enriched the lives of many people, including family, friends, and students. He was kind and generous and shared his table with many life-long friends. He will be greatly missed. Robert is survived by his wife of 62-years Barbara A. Walker, his four children: Deborah L. Walker of Cold Spring, NY, Nancy L. Loftis (Larry) of Hendersonville, TN, Kenneth W. Walker (Dorine) of White Lake, MI, and John R. Walker (Amy Hezlep) of Carrollton, GA; his grandchildren: Katherine Walker, Jennifer Walker and Megan Walker; his brother, Harry L. Walker (Ruth) and many loving nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to two organizations where Robert Walker was heavily involved for many years. Donations can be made to the Putnam Valley Food Pantry (www.putnamvalleyfoodpantry.org) or to the Boy Scouts of America. Funeral arrangements were private and were under the direction of HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME, Morrissey Drive, Putnam Valley.
