Bernard Dorfman
Died: Jan 31, 2015

Bernard Dorfman of Lake Peekskill, New York passed away on January 31, 2015 at the Veterans Administration Home in Montrose, New York. Bernie, as he was known, was born in Brooklyn, New York to the late Harry and Lena (Luchs) Dorfman on March 11, 1923. He attended Brooklyn College, and served as a bombardier in the United States Navy during World War II.  He later married Irene Breg, also of Brooklyn, on June 8, 1952, who predeceased him in 2002.

Bernie had a deep love for gardening and planting, particularly vegetable gardening. He was an avid swimmer, loved to fish and to bask in the sunshine at the beach. He was also a very easy-going man who was always smiling and pleasant to everyone around him. He will truly be missed.

Bernie is survived by his loving daughter, Leslie Davis of Hawthorne, New York, a grandson, Gregory of Hooksett, New Hampshire, and a grand-daughter Sabrina of Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He was predeceased by his son Hadley Dorfman in January, 2008.

His family would like to thank those people who provided such loving and kind care to Bernie during the last years of his life, particularly Joan Kerr of Lake Peekskill, and the nurses and aides at the V.A. Home.

A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, February 4th at Rose Hills Cemetery with Rabbi Seth Sternstein presiding.

My condolences to the family of Mr. Dorfman. Jesus' promise at John 5:28,29 is so comforting. He gives us assurance of a resurrection of our dear loved ones. Also at Acts 24:15 it says: "There will be a resurrection..". I look forward to the fulfillment of this promise, and I hope you do too.
