Keith L Brown
Died: Feb 24, 2015

Keith Llewellyn Brown was born on July 14, 1938 in Kingston, Jamaica to Vida (Rattray) Nelson and Lester Brown.  As is customary in Jamaica, his maternal grandparents Joshua Rattray and Eliza (Lanaman) Rattray played an integral role in his upbringing.

He received his formal education in Jamaica.  After emigrating to New York City in 1969, he went on to obtain a B.A. from Baruch College and an M.B.A. from Long Island University.  He was the owner of Sabra Dental Products and Lydig Laundry and Dry Cleaning.  He also worked as a Systems Analyst with the Health and Hospital Corporation of New York City.

His marriage to Hyacinth “Pat” Duncan produced two daughters, Folami and Aisha.  He took great pride in being a father and was always very active and involved in his children’s and grandchildren’s lives.

A lifelong activist, he passionately championed causes from education to civil rights.  As a vegetarian of many years, he embraced a lifestyle of healthy diet and exercise.  He enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, listening to educational programs on the radio and running outdoors.

He is survived by his daughters Folami and Aisha, son-in-law Lance, grandchildren Dev, Anaya, Zaire and Zion, brothers Norman, Winston and Bunny, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and aunts.

A Celebration of Keith's life will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME, Morrissey Drive, Putnam Valley with Visitation from 9 to 10:45 am, and a Funeral Service from 10:45 until about 11:30 am.  Interment will follow at Rose Hills Cemetery.
