Obituaries

Gwendolyn E. Taylor, 75, of Rhinebeck, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2011 at her daughter’s home after a valiant battle against melanoma. She was a long time resident of Putnam Valley, NY and of Bayonet Point, FL. Gwen is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, Arthur C. Taylor, Jr.; a retired NYC Firefighter, and their beloved dog, Bubby. She is survived by her five loving daughters, Gwendolyn Gambino and her husband James, Kathleen Alford and her husband Skip, Arlene Swansen and her husband Peter, Colleen Werthner and her husband Dennis and Doreen Taylor, and her only son, Arthur C. Taylor, III. She was blessed with 17 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She also is survived by her brother Charles Foley and his wife Regina and by her brother-in-Law John Long.

Gwen was a nurse for 45 years and retired from Bear Creek Nursing Home in Bayonet Point, FL after 23 years. She lived a full life and her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family.

Visiting hours will be on Saturday from 7-9 PM and Funeral Services will be at 8 PM at the HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME, Morrissey Drive, Putnam Valley. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Gwen’s memory to Dutchess County Hospice and The Cancer Center at Hudson Valley Hospital, 1980 Crompond Road, Cortlandt Manor, NY 10567
