Roger G Loughlin

Roger G. Loughlin passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 31, 2018, with his loving son Roger Patrick by his side.  He was born on December 29, 1940 in New York City to Matthew and Mary Loughlin.  Roger served in the US Navy for five years and participated in the evacuation of Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis.  Once discharged from the Navy, Roger courted the love of his life, Nancy E. Grimes, and on June 4, 1966, they were married at St. Jude’s Church in Inwood, NY. They had their only child, Roger P. Loughlin nine months later.  They moved to Lake Peekskill in Putnam Valley in 1973.

Roger worked as a Federal Food Inspector with the US Department of Agriculture for close to 25 years before retiring.  He lost Nancy in December 2001 and never quite fully recovered.  He devoted his time and his money to several charitable organizations involving the plight of U.S. Indians.

Roger was predeceased by his wife Nancy, his parents, and his brothers Jack and Matthew.  He is survived by his devoted son Roger, his sisters Mary Paulson and Theresa Loughlin, and his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Thomas Stephens, George and Margaret Rose Grimes, Jimmy and Suzanne Grimes and Kathy Grimes Pascazi.  Roger is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours are on Thursday, January 3rd from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME, Morrissey Drive, Putnam Valley.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday at 11 AM at the Church of the North American Martyrs in Putnam Valley and interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
