Sylvia Komsa

 Sylvia Komsa, longtime resident of Mahopac, peacefuly passed away February 6, 2020 in Purdys, NY.  She was 84.
Born in Cambridge Springs, PA to John and Stephany Waclawik, she married Eugene Komsa on May 6, 1961.  They were married 41 years, until his passing in 2002.
Sylvia's family was one of the first to move in to the Red Mills neighborhood of Mahopac.  She loved to garden and to feed people.  Her first question  you would walk into her home was "Are you hungry?  Can I make you something?".
Sylvia is survived by her children, Michelle Cook (husband Stephen) and John Komsa (companion Patience Thomas).  She is also survived by her sisters Pearl Hale and Gloria Hayes, and brother Eugene Waclawik, and several nieces and nephews.  Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, brother Joseph Waclawik, and an unnamed daughter who died at birth.
A memorial gathering will be held on what would have been her 85th birthday, Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Heritage Funeral Home, 35 Morrissey Drive, Putnam Valley, NY from 2 to 4 PM.  A family celebration of life will be held later this spring so she can be returned to Cambridge Springs, the place she always considered "home".
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to be made to the American Heart Association.
