Patricia Salvador
Died: Jan 28, 2021

Patricia Ann Salvador, née Shaefer, passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of January 28th, 2021, at the age of 84. She was a loving wife, mother of eleven, grandmother of twenty-four, great-grandmother of three, daughter, sibling, and aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. She joins in heaven her beloved husband of 57 years, Robert, and their eldest son Christopher, as well as her parents, Harry and Georgietta Shaefer, and eight cherished siblings.

Patricia (also known as Pat or Patsy) was born on March 14th, 1936, in Yonkers, NY, where she resided until after she graduated from college. She was youngest of her parents’ many children and stayed closely connected to the extended Shaefer family throughout her life. She earned her degree from the Teachers College at SUNY New Paltz, a teaching certification from the University of Colorado, and taught elementary school for several years in Carmel, NY. Pat married Robert J. Salvador (Bob) on July 21, 1962, in Yonkers NY, where they also resided. She left her teaching position to focus on building a family with Bob. In 1970, Pat and Bob moved the still growing family to Putnam Valley, where they resided for 48 years until they moved to Poughkeepsie, in 2018.

Pat was graced with many gifts and talents, including a quick wit, an insatiable curiosity, and a fierce devotion to two inseparable passions- her faith and her family. She was an active parishioner in the St. Columbanus Catholic Parish, especially at the Church of the North American Martyrs, ardently attending services, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, and attending Bible Study classes. An educator by training and spirit, she insisted that those around her were well nourished in body, mind, and soul. She dedicated herself to raising a large nuclear and extended family, instilling these values in her children and grandchildren, assiduously attending to the myriad daily tasks of a matriarch, and providing an environment that yielded innumerable happy memories and ethereal sense of love and support. Pat made everyone feel important, interesting, individual, and loved, especially loved.

Patricia is survived by 10 of her children and their respective spouses, Joseph (Hope-Sutton), Catherine, Teresa Black (Jeff), Patricia Conklin (Robert), John (Kristi), Paul, Regina, Mark (Jennifer), Peter (Sara), and Michael, as well 24 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.
