Obituaries

Hedwig Albrecht of New Rochelle passed away March 8, 2021 at the age of 88.  She was born on May 22, 1932 in Handschusheim, a suburb of Heidelberg, Germany. Her parents were Georg Albrecht and Elizabeth (Apfel) Albrecht.  She trained as a seamstress in Germany and came to the US as a young woman.  She worked for many years at Zeiss Instruments in Connecticut.

She is survived by her brother Leo (Hilde), nephew Lothar Albrecht and step-sister Katherine and was predeceased by her brother Vitus in Germany. In the US, she leaves her step-brother, Franz Apfel; as well as cousins, Werner Apfel, Ferdinand Huber and Rudy (Fanny) Schlechter. Her wish was to be buried next to her sister, Franziska (Oskar) Ohland to whom she was very close.  The Graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. at Assumption Cemetery, Cortlandt Manor.
