John DeNardo

John DeNardo, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Wednesday, December 22nd at the age of 89 in Hackensack, New Jersey. His determination and fighting spirit could be seen right up until his last moments, and he is at peace.

Originally from New York City, John was a long-term resident of Tom’s River, NJ. His career included being drafted during the Korean War, and being honorably discharged in 1961. John then went on to work for New York City, his positions including the NYC Subway System, The NYC Bridge and Tunnel Authority, and Superintendent for the New York City Housing Authority for 25 years, retiring in the late 1980’s. John also worked for the United States Navy as a contract inspector for 8 years after retiring. His commitment and dedication to his long career are noteworthy and show the merit with which he was regarded.

John is survived by Norma, his beloved wife of 56 years, in New Jersey; his beloved daughter Nina DeNardo in The Bronx; his faithful son Mark Denardo and his wife Linda, in Newburgh, NY; three magical grandchildren: Sam, Ava and Sophia; and his sister Emilia Parrinello, in South Carolina. John is predeceased by his mother and father, Anna and Giovanni DeNardo; his brother Frank DeNardo, and his sister  Philomena Damato.

To honor John’s love of the opera, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the National Endowment of the Arts. The family would like to thank everyone for their love, prayers, and support during this difficult time.

Visiting / Viewing hours will be on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME, Morrissey Drive, Putnam Valley. Funeral serives will be held on Thursday, December 30th, at 11 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, and interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Putnam Valley.
